Grower Profile

Fazenda Serra do Boné is the brainchild of the late Carlos Sérgio Sanglard, a visionary farmer deeply committed to producing exceptional coffee while prioritizing sustainability. Mr. Sanglard believed in investing not only in specialty coffee but also in sustainable production. “I believe that what is good for the land will be good for the health of my colleagues and for the people who will drink my coffee”, he used to say. Today, the legacy continues under the stewardship of his sons, Matheus and Natan Sanglard, who are dedicated to upholding their father’s vision of quality and environmental responsibility.

Farm

Located in the Matas de Minas micro-region, the farm sits at an altitude of 1,200 meters, surrounded by a lush, fertile landscape. Founded in 1988 by Carlos Sérgio Sanglard, Serra do Boné farm quickly became a beacon of quality in the region. The 7-hectare plot in Araponga, Minas Gerais, marked the beginning of a journey to produce outstanding coffee while preserving the natural environment.

The farm’s altitude and rich soil provided an ideal setting for coffee cultivation, but it was Carlos Sérgio’s commitment to post-harvest processing that set Serra do Boné apart. Employing washing and pulping techniques, Carlos Sérgio ensured that every coffee cherry received meticulous attention. The harvest, 100% manual, was (and still is) carefully dried on suspended beds, allowing for optimal moisture control and flavor development.

As success and recognition grew, so did the farm. Today, Fazenda Serra do Boné spans 128 hectares, with coffee production at its heart. Matheus Sanglard, following in his father’s footsteps, continues to prioritize sustainability, conservation, and quality in every aspect of the farm’s operations.

Fazenda Serra do Boné’s dedication to excellence has been recognized through participation in prestigious competitions such as the Cup of Excellence. Over the years, the farm has earned numerous accolades, including 1st place at Cup of Excellence (COE) in 2003, 4th place at COE 2006, and 2nd place at COE 2010.

Cup profile

The coffee is characterized by floral aromas and vibrant notes of red fruits and cherries. Undertones of caramel and a bright, clean acidity add depth to the cup, while a sweet aftertaste lingers on the palate.
